Valerie Fletcher's Obituary
Valerie R. Fletcher, 71 of Fayetteville died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 7:20 p.m., in the presence of her family, dear friends, and the caring Drs. and Nurses of Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville. She was born September 7, 1940, in Middletown, Connecticut, to Harold and Valerie Evans.
She will be sorely missed by all the many lives she touched – by teaching, nursing, and volunteering. She was a registered nurse for 42 years, and worked at Washington Regional Medical Center until retirement, and then she became very active in The First United Methodist Church, working in summer bible school and sang in the choir for 12 years. She became a master gardener and did lots of volunteering at that as well as at the BGO. She was named the Volunteer of The Year 3 years straight with more hours than anyone. Gardening was her love and she was always bringing someone a tree or flower. Valerie was a faithful Christian, friend and confidant. And although our hearts are heavy with grief and sorrow for our loss, Angels rejoice; for a bright shining star rises into Heaven. We will miss her many talents, her giving heart, her pink-cheeked smiling face, and her valiant spirit. We will see her again one day.
Valerie is survived by her brother Tim, sister, Sydney, 8 children, 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, plus several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, AR.
