I meet Velma and Shirley through my long term friendship with their daughter Hilda and her three sons. Both Velma and Shirley were lovely people. They always made me feel welcomed and loved. She was a very talented person. She made beautiful draperies for hundred of family in northwest AR and enjoyed doing it. Shirley and her sisters were always there to assist her. She was an immaculate housekeeper even her sewing room. She loved her family, and her grandchildren, and was always there when they needed her. She grew beautiful African Violets. I have many fond memories with this family. Hilda was a dear friend of mine. June B. Ball

Aunt Velma gave me my first job when I was 16. I helped her at Fabric City make draperies . Aunt Jessie worked with us, also. They both kept me laughing that whole summer! I loved her family and remember all the fun we had growing up in Fayetteville. I also remember the matching felt skirts she made for Hilda and me. She was a great seamstress and made the bridesmaids dresses for my wedding. I will remember her always.

Aunt Velma was a special lady and I will always remember her and Uncle Shirley. I am very grateful that my children were able to know them also, they played an important part in their childhood. We will always cherish our wonderful memories of them. Aunt Velma was at the hospital waiting for their births, not to mention the help she gave in preparing their nurseries. They had many wonderful times with her. We teased her and called her Aunt Granny.Aunt Velma was so talented and she taught me many things. Again she was very special to all of us and loved very much.

Aunt Velma will be remembered because of our many memories of her. We remember her stories of her childhood as she laughed and told us about her brothers and sisters growing up. We visited through the years. She was present througout my life from the making of my 3rd birthday cake, and always at the Fly Creek Christmas parties. Her gentle spirit will be missed. Remembering Aunt Velma with love and affection.
