Velma Shepherd's Obituary
Velma Shepherd, 93 of Springdale, AR passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 in Springdale. She was born June 2, 1927 in Crosses, AR to Floyd Abraham Shackelford and Dilla Etta (Hollingsworth) Shackelford.
She was a longtime member of Crosses Community Church. She loved gardening, canning, and quilting but her greatest joy was being with her family and spending hours in the kitchen cooking for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delbert “Bug” Shepherd, son, Dean Shepherd, sisters Wilma Sanders and Mary Shackelford. Brothers, Albert Shackelford, Wade Shackelford, Olan Shackelford, Carl Shackelford, Roy Shackelford, and a granddaughter, Marcy Shepherd.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Shepherd and Reda Hollingsworth both of Springdale, AR. A son in law (caregiver) Bill Hollingsworth of Springdale, AR. A daughter-in-law, Marilynne Shepherd of Crosses, AR. Four sisters, Flora Shepherd of Oklahoma City, OK, Floy Robbins of Cannon Creek AR, Dora Jordan of Wichita, KS, Martha Shackelford of Hazel Valley, AR, nine grandchildren, Mikel Shepherd, Marty Shepherd, Kim Ritchie, Cody Shepherd, Jennifer Shepherd, Teresa Fisher, Gina Ranney, Mechelle Smith, Amy Newpher, sixteen great grandchildren, Mollie, Matthew, Madison, Elliott, Everett, Cash, Nick, Kyra, Hannah, Camden, Rachel, Cory, Grant, Shyene, Ryan, Jacob, and seven great great grandchildren, Felix, Ellis, Juniper, Kelby, Eli, Kambri, and Koda, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30th at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday July 1st at Crosses Community Church with Reverend Rex Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Brannon Mountain Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crosses Community Church.
