Unlike many leaving comments here, I did not know Vernon Sr. However, I taught school with Thelma. So I believe I'm safe in saying he must have been a kind, smart, funny, and tough fellow! Had to be to match Thelma! Kind thoughts to the family.

So sorry for your loss

Vernon will be missed with every sunset and every sunrise. He had a way of embracing life that made everyone around him love and respect him. People were drawn to him because of his gregarious manner, his ability to put folks immediately at ease and his ability to make them want to hear more of his entertaining stories. Vernon was my friend and I loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Vernon Tarver was a good friend to me and to so many others. My greatest sympathy goes out to his family. Vernon will be greatly missed. Dash Goff
Vernon will be missed with every sunrise and every sunset. He was a man who brought warmth to cold winter days and a cool gentle breeze to hot summer days. He always went out of his way to engage folks in conversation and to make them feel comfortable and happy in any situation. I loved him dearly as my friend and I will miss him terribly.

In 1954, my dad, Austin Franks, taught square dancing in and around Pine Bluff. Sometimes Vernon and I would go with him and we would call square dances. Vernon really enjoyed those times. He was probably around 14 years old. I am so sorry for your loss. Gene Austin Franks
It's with heavy heart that I learn of the passing of my friend and fellow outdoors man. Condolences and Prayers for the family! God's Speed Vernon!
