Dear family - Although I was not a personal friend of Dr. Runnels, I wanted to say a few words. Of course, there is nothing I can add to the beautiful obituary, other than to say thank you, Dr. Runnels, for your kindness and skill when it came to your patients. My dad had back surgery under the care of Dr. Runnels and it made a huge difference in Dad's life. I've never forgotten that.
Imagine my surprise when I learned that my precious friend, Nancy, was Dr. Runnels' sister-in-law! She spoke so highly of him and of course she loved Bonnie greatly and was never quite the same after her dear sister passed. I had the pleasure of meeting Bonnie once and found her to be every bit as sweet and loving as Nancy always said she was.
We went to church with John (Ivan) and Nancy for almost 20 years. Which brings me to my second word of thanks. I was so very blessed to be able to spend some time with Ivan, Nancy, Rick, and Katie in Bonnie and Brian's guest house while Nancy was in hospice care and again at her memorial service. The whole Runnel's family could not have been more generous, kind, and welcoming! I just wanted to say thank you again and to express my heartfelt condolences to all of you. May the Lord bless and comfort each of you and give you peace.
