Voyle Blevins "Butch" Mitchell's Obituary
Voyle Blevins “Butch” Mitchell, age 70, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Fayetteville. He was born January 6, 1948 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the son of John D. and Arvina Blevins Mitchell.
After serving in the United States Army in Vietnam, he returned to Northwest Arkansas to raise his family. While undeniably stoic in the face of challenges, he reserved his emotions for his children and grandchildren, all of which he was immensely proud. He loved sports, especially coaching his children and grandchildren in official and unofficial capacities. He also took great pleasure (and pain) following the Razorbacks, and he took particular joy in watching the University of Texas football team’s most recent loss. In 2010 he retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville after 44 years of service. His laugh will be remembered most of all.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheila Mitchell of Fayetteville, Julie Worlow and her husband Brett of Fayetteville and Kristy Wolfenbarger and her husband Gary of Fayetteville; a son, Keith Starnes and his wife Jennifer of Fayetteville; a sister, Flora June Lyon of Farmington; a brother, Bob Mitchell and his wife Carolyn of Ft. Worth, Texas and eleven grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Moore’s Chapel followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be in Son’s Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Fayetteville, 560 Rupple Rd., Fayetteville, Arkansas 72704.
