Wallace Scranton's Obituary
Wallace Scranton, age 85, of Elkins passed away Monday November 21, 2022, in Elkins. He was born March 8, 1937, to Ruth Scranton in Thorny, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Wally played baseball and basketball for Huntsville. He was a veteran of the United States Army. His notoriety came from his career as a barber at the infamous U of A Style Shop on Dickson Street. Wally was an avid hunter and gardener. He was always willing to help when you needed a hand. He lived by the saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Wally was a quiet, gentle, wise man, who was loved by everyone that crossed his path.
Wally was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Joan Ritter Scranton; a daughter Sandy Wright and her husband Mark of Elkins; two grandchildren Caylee Wright and her fiancé Luke Allen of Farmington and Cannon Wright and his wife Creighton of Farmington and a half-brother Van Walker of Springdale.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday November 28, 2022, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
