Wanda Mae Arnold's Obituary
Wanda Mae Curtis Arnold was born on April 19, 1928, in Prairie Grove, AR to proud parents, Earl & Lillian Curtis. She was reunited with many of her beloved ones in Heaven, the morning of Saturday, August 27th, in her bed, in the house that she loved and cared for most of her life. In this home, her & Jake, her husband of 45 years and love of her life, raised three sons: Ronnie, Larry and Johnnie. They successfully ran a small herd of cattle, started a rental property business, and were blessed with four amazing granddaughters: Robyn (Bo) Phillips, Shannan Arnold, Shalane (Travis) Adkinson and Camryn (Jeff) Lagios.
She worked for Campbell Soup and Kearney Electric for many years, until her retirement from Kearney, in 1990.
She was predeceased by her parents, (Lillian and Earl), her sister (June Phillips), her husband (Jake), her three sons(Larry, Ronnie, and Johnnie) and her second eldest granddaughter, Shannan Arnold.
In addition to her granddaughters, she is survived & was an incredible Mema to eight precious great- grandchildren: Anna Grace and Ty Calvin Phillips, Jordan, Harlin, Judah, Shiloh, Micah and Eliah Adkinson & daughters in law: Regenia (Ronnie) Arnold & Kathi (Johnnie)Arnold.
She was an enthusiastic bowler in a league in her younger years and found a great love for
gardening as she transitioned gracefully into her later years. Her passion consisted of beautiful house plants proudly on display in her sunroom and seasonally on her porch and her front yard, some plants being nurtured and cared for by her for 70+years. She was a devoted daily walker, of many years with dear friend and next-door neighbor Donna Bowling and her granddaughter.
Wanda was best known for her fiery spirit, great humor, love of nature, and spending time baking in her kitchen. She was a skilled seamstress, taught by her mother and was adoringly referred to, by her grandchildren, as the Queen of Stains. She was a dedicated Razorback and Atlanta Braves baseball fan – she loved attending games with family and friends whenever she could, often enjoying with her son Johnnie and daughter in law, Regenia. She loved listening to country music and going to many concerts and events with her granddaughters and friends. She never missed a school event or game if it could be prevented and was often one of the loudest in the crowd. She took great pride and joy in her family's many various accomplishments. One of her favorite pastimes was enjoying a good conversation over a hot cup of coffee, with anyone who was lucky enough to walk thru her doorway. You'd likely find her in her infamous kitchen chair... If you weren't already greeted by her outside, relaxing in her favorite swing or sitting on the porch that her sweetheart built for her. She was always first to offer a smile, a seat, or a friendly wave to any passing neighbor or visitors, as she remained centered in the heart of her yard, nestled under the shade of the tree's canopy. We will miss the life and energy that she brought to any room, her humor & her strength. We will always hold her memory and love, deep in our hearts.
