William 'Bill' A. Thomas' Obituary
William Arthur “Bill” Thomas, age 88, of Springdale died Saturday June 11, 2011 in Springdale. He was born June 4, 1923 in Fayetteville to Benjamin Thomas and Sarah Leona Thomas. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, graduated from Farmington High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. During his physically active years, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and had a great sense of humor. Mr. Thomas worked with his father during the 1950’s and 1960’s owning a chainsaw, lawnmower sales & repair in Fayetteville known as Ben F. Thomas & Son. At the time of his death, he was retired from the Standard Register Company in Fayetteville, where he worked for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thomas and Sarah Leona Thomas of Fayetteville; and two sisters, Ruth Thomas Okeson and Roberta Fincher, also of Fayetteville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Maxine Thomas, two daughters, Carolyn Sue Miller and her husband Tom of Farmington, AR; Marilyn Youmans of Farmington, AR; two sons, Jim Thomas and his wife Marilyn of Catoosa, OK; Wayne Thomas and his wife Joan of Sandy Hook, CT; sister, Frankie Baker of Liberty, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica Thomas, Megan Thomas, Michelle Millican, Natasha Martin, Eric Huddleston, Shawn Huddleston, Jeremy Youmans, Shannon Youmans, Jeremy McDaniel, Thomas Miller, Jr., Elizabeth Varian, Adam Miller and Lindsey Dery; three great grandchildren, Daniel Martin, Nicholas Millican, Devon Youmans-Haynes and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Springdale Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
