Dr. William T. Mahon's Obituary
Dr. William T. Mahon, 75, who practiced orthodontics in Rogers and Bentonville for many years, passed away August 4, 2023, in Rogers, Arkansas.
He was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Mildred and Bruce Mahon, Jr.. Since his father worked for the Frisco Railroad, “Bill”, as he was known, spent his childhood in several Midwestern cities, graduating from Webster Groves High in Webster Groves, Missouri.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, continuing his education at the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he earned degrees in General Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry. After marrying his wife Carol, he acquired a Masters degree in Orthodontics from St. Louis University. Dr. Mahon entered private practice in the Rogers/Bentonville area in 1980.
He was an outgoing man who loved his office and thoroughly enjoyed working with his patients and their families. Also a multi-talented lifelong learner, he continued pursuing various interests including Bible Study Fellowship, family travel, singing, listening to good music, studying French, savoring good food and supporting the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He relished snowy days when he could build fires in the fireplace, a throwback to his days as an Eagle Scout.
Survivors include Carol Mahon, his wife of 46 years; daughters Meg Mahon, Elizabeth Gerner, and Katie Shin; sons-in-law Harris Gerner and Dr. Eric Shin; brother Bruce Mahon III and wife Chris Mahon; nieces Monica Mahon and Carly Cray, nephew Dr. Brett Mahon; and four grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Hunt Chapel at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens. The funeral will be preceded by visitation at the Chapel at 10:00 a.m.
