WILLIAM ROBERT DOUGAN
William Robert Dougan, 92, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Fayetteville.
He was born August 5, 1919 in Emmet, Arkansas, the son of Robert Hendrix and Beulah Rogers Dougan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Chretien Dougan.
He retired from the United States Army, serving 23 years and worked for the Civil Service at Ft. Hood, Texas for 17 years.
He was a member of Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville and was part of a medical mission trip in Guyana, South America in 1989. He was active with the Baldwin Church of Christ Tract Ministry and was a volunteer for many civic organizations in Fayetteville. He enjoyed playing the guitar and fiddle.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Dougan; a daughter, Nancy Wagenkecht and her husband Al of Torrington, CT; two step-sons, Ken Harrison and his wife Dawn of Little Rock, AR and Jim Harrison of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Kristin Branem and her husband Jordan, John Wagenkecht, Christian Harrison, James Harrison and Michael Harrison and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23 at Moore’s Chapel.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 24 at Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville with burial at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
