William Weston Rogers' Obituary
William Weston Rogers departed this life and entered Heaven on June 4, 2026 at Circle of Life Hospice surrounded by family and friends.
Weston was born on June 7, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Olga Agatha White Rogers and William Rader Rogers where his father was stationed at Fort Sill Army Base. The family moved at least thirteen times during WWII, settling on Mt. Sequoyah in Fayetteville, Arkansas after the war. Patriotic to their core, many of his family from both sides proudly served in the United States military.
Weston’s military career began in high school when he attended Kemper Military Academy in Booneville, Missouri. He stood out at Kemper, being recognized as a natural leader who went on to leadership roles in both the U.S. Army and the U.S.Navy, and rising to a senior naval officer in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Stationed at Naval Station Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, where Weston spent the entirety of his active naval career, he grew to love the island and island life dearly. He returned to Oahu often for the rest of his life. When accompanied by family members or friends, he delighted in introducing all things Hawaiian and making at least one trip to the Arizona.
Weston graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S.B.A. in 1964. Upon leaving military service, he began his career with A. G. Edwards in Fayetteville and worked in the securities industry for the rest of his working life.
In retirement, he proudly served as a volunteer in the American Red Cross, often spending weeks at a time in locales where natural disasters had destroyed whole towns and communities. He and his teams brought life-saving services and aid to those in need. His military training and leadership were invaluable in setting up and maintaining rescue centers to provide basic necessities for life to thousands. During and after Hurricane Katrina, Weston spent 93 days serving its victims, setting up and staffing one of the largest rescue centers in the region.
Weston was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Bill Rogers and his sister, Patricia Rogers Doan. He is survived by his wife, Anne Radcliffe Rogers, his sister, Janis Rogers Parker, children Denise Rogers, Tracie Rogers, Emily Rogers Flaker (Jeffery), and Drew Rogers (Juliette), nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by step children Harrison Craft (Alisha) and Olivia King (Chris) and 3 step grandchildren.
Through his life, Weston’s love of the water was a constant whether sailing around the Bahamas or boating on Beaver Lake, his happiest moments were on the water.
Wishing you fair winds, and following seas, Captain.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to The Wounded Warrior Project.
