Wilma Irene Sheridan's Obituary
Wilma Irene Sheridan of St. James, Mo passed peacefully on July 11, 2024, in Fayetteville, Ark. Wilma was born on May 10, 1934 in Rosati, MO. Wilma was the 8th of 14 children born to Walter and Lola Claus. On May 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to her beloved husband Jack. They were married 58 years when Jack passed away in 2013.
Wilma is survived by her daughter Patricia Sheridan and son Jack Sheridan Jr. and his wife Lynn. The Grandkids include Patty’s son Ryan Spier and wife Sadie and sister Alicia Spier and Eli Mitchell. Jack and Lynn’s daughter Katie Sheridan and son Jack Sheridan III and his wife Mary Kate. The Great grandkids are Chloe Spier 15, Jack Sheridan IV 3, and Reece Sheridan 2.
Wilma’s identity was in Jesus Christ and her love and care for her family, friends, and others was anchored in her belief. She seemed to have unlimited energy and participated in all family activities including girl scouting, sporting events, and simple family activities. She loved working in her yard, gardening, and sharing vegetables with her neighbors.
She loved spending time with her grand children making arts and crafts, going to the swimming pool or lake, and she showed her love to her family by making homemade meals & desserts to gather the family around the table to celebrate and share life.
Wilma taught children’s Sunday school for over 15 years, participated in mission trips to south America, and active in her Sunday school class.
When she “retired” and she moved back home to St James, Mo, she supported the Awana children ministry and participated in serving meals to families during funerals.
Later in life, she developed Parkinson’s that took away her ability to walk, hold her head up, speak, and limited use of her hands. Even through these challenges, “Ms Wilma” had a smile on her face and was usually found laughing with her caretakers. She lived in Gods promises and well above her circumstances.
We are thankful for her life and for Gods faithfulness.
“Peace I leave with you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
