Grief Therapy Dogs

Meet Our Comfort Dogs

At Berna Funeral Homes, we understand that grief can feel overwhelming. During times of loss, even the smallest gestures of compassion can make a meaningful difference. That’s why we’re proud to offer the support of two very special team members — our certified grief therapy dogs, Allie Berna and Gracie Berna.

These gentle Goldendoodles are trained to provide comfort, reduce stress, and bring a sense of calm and connection to those navigating the funeral planning or grieving process. Whether it’s offering a quiet moment of warmth during an arrangement meeting or lifting the spirits of a child who’s feeling overwhelmed, Allie and Gracie are here to help in ways only dogs can.

Bringing Comfort, One Paw at a Time

Allie

With her calm spirit and soulful eyes, Allie has a quiet way of bringing peace into every room she enters. Families often find comfort in her gentle presence — whether she’s resting nearby during a service or softly greeting visitors with her signature warmth. Allie has a special gift for helping people feel at ease, simply by being close.

Gracie

Gracie brings a cheerful, comforting energy wherever she goes. Curious and affectionate, she loves making new friends and always seems to know when someone needs a little extra support. Her friendly face and loving nature make her a favorite among guests of all ages — especially children and those navigating difficult moments.

Why Comfort Dogs?

Research shows that therapy dogs can ease anxiety, lower blood pressure, and even help people feel less alone. In funeral home settings, they create a safe and soothing environment — reminding us that healing doesn’t always come through words.

Request a Visit

If you’d like Allie or Gracie to be present during your time with us — whether for a service, visitation, or private planning — just let our staff know. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request and ensure the comfort dog who can best support your family is available.
