At S of O Arthur played basketball for the school during his junior and senior years and was a part of S. S. 1(year one; a freshman), 2, 3, 4; Dramatics 3, 4 and was a member of the senior play cast; R. Council 3, 4; D. K. P. 4; and Annual 4. In his senior year he was a part of the newspaper staff serving as one of the assembly men and, also a part of the Annual Staff where he covered organizations. He was also a member of the fire crew and D.K.P. He graduated the same year from S of O as my mother, Wilma Newberry Culp.

I remember visiting with Uncle Art and Aunt Donna in Laramie, Wyoming when I was 17. We stayed with them on our way to visit other relatives. Sherry and Terry were young children then. Both Art and Donna were welcoming, kind and thoughtful. I remember that visit with fondness. My father was James H. Smith, Art's older brother.
My older sister Laura Jameson, Wenatchee, WA, (Laura Belle Smith) has much the same memories of her visits in Laramie with Art and Donna. Laura also asked me to convey her condolences.

I remember the first time I remember seeing him as a young girl. My siblings and I thought he was so tall & handsome. He was a kind, gentle, man, loved to laugh, tell a funny, loved his family, siblings. He was number 8 of the 13 children. He was always kind, considerate, loved watching baseball, reading. My regret is that I did not take more time to spend with him. My brother Waymon was named for him, so I course our family was a bit partial to him.
Uncle Art, I hope you felt my love for you.
