Bernice was such a dear,dear friend-one
of my very favorites.I was shocked and
saddened to read of her passing.She had
lived a most productive life and was
loved by all who knew her. We played
golf in the summer and taught in the
same building for 13 years.When she was in her 2-BR apt., my husband and
I visited her and attended her church.
My heart goes out to all members of her
family because I know how much you will
miss her.I shall,too; we enjoyed our
phone visits the last few years.

Bernice was a friend to the Knapp family while my husband was growing up, a neighbor on a family lined street in Raytown where all joined in picnics and neighborhood football games. Years later I married Jim Knapp. He and I had two sons and lived for 7 years on Willow Way in Raytown where again Bernice and Wayne were our neighbors. Bernice was my oldest son's first grade teacher at Southwood. She was gracious, kind, a wonderful teacher, and a beautiful friend. Bernice was a good person, a blessing. We will miss her.

My first acquaintance with Bernice was as a newlywed when in 1971 we moved into their duplex on Hawthorne. We both attended Raytown Christian Church for many years together and my children had her for a substitute teacher at Southwood Elementary. She was always a gracious Christian lady and I am sure you will miss her. My sympathies to your family. It is hard to lose a loved one at the holiday season and know you have had a difficult year.
