Boris M. Schein's Obituary
Boris M. Schein passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2023, with his family by his side. He was 85 years old.
Born in Moscow, Russia in 1938 to Moses and Sophia Schein, he was only child.
In the year 1941, after Germany attacked Russia, the family was evacuated to Saratov, a large industrial city on the Volga River.
He completed his school and university education in Saratov and joined the faculty of the mathematics department there.
In 1979 he brought his family out of the Soviet Union and several months later settled in Fayetteville, where he spent the rest of his career as a Distinguished Professor at the University of Arkansas. He was devoted to his family, made major research advances in his field and guided generations of students.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Eugenia, his son Michael and wife, his son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
His daughter, Dina, predeceased him.
