Charles Franklin Hasty's Obituary
Mr. Charles Franklin Hasty, 82 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Friday, October 27, 2006 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born February 5, 1924 in Arkoe, MO to Henry Albert and Rose Marie (Dick) Hasty.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Having begun his Naval service at the age of 15, he served on Destroyers, three of which were sunk during wartime, USS Reid, USS Aulik, and the USS Brancroft. When the USS Bancroft was sunk Mr. Hasty was in the water three days before being rescued. He was active during the Aleutian Campaign and the Battle of Komandorski where he received a Purple Heart.
He was an artist, painter, and wood carver and a member of Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty
He is survived by his wife Nora Lou Hasty, two stepsons, Tommy Lonon of Fayetteville, AR, Bill Lonon of Springdale, AR seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Sunday, October 29, 2006 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM with the family present to greet friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 30, 2006 at Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville with Reverend C.L. "Red" Dixon and Reverend Steve Dixon officiating. Burial with Honors will follow at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Christian Life Cathedral or to American Cancer Society.
