Henrietta, My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

I had the honor and priviledge of working with Dr. Swacina from 1990-93 in the USDA Food Safety Southwestern Regional Office in Dallas. He was my boss. He was always supportive, but frank and fair. I have missed working for and with him for many years. He always spoke of his family with heartfelt emotion and great pride (with the exception of two cocker spaniels in the Texas Panhandle who preferred not to behave). For a man with large hands, his penmanship was so elegant, fine, and legible. I had not talked to him in several years, but held him as a true friend and will miss him. My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family. He will be truly missed.
It was my pleasure to work with Dr. Swacina while he was stationed in Washington in the '80s. He had extensive experience even then, and always addressed me as "young man" when I entered his office. But to me, he will always be "Dr. Swacina."
Aunt Henri,
I wish I could have been there with you and your family. I love you. You've have always been my favorite Aunt. O hope you are getting some much needed rest.
Love,
Midge
My best wishes to Dr. Swacina's family for a honest dedicated FSIS employee and NAFV member
I knew Doug through my relationship with USDA and the National Association of Federal Veterinarians. He was always personable and a straight shooter. Dealing with him was always a pleasure. He will be missed by many. I know no one who didn't hold him in high respect. I certainly did.
My sincere sympathy to the family, especially Mrs. Swacina and Linda.

I am very sorry for your loss. I had the priviledge of meeting Mr. Swacina and his wife at the hospital, and found him to be a very sweet man, and her to be wonderful. Once more, I am so sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathies go out to you and your family
I consider it a blessing and honor to have been able to work with Doug on several projects over the years. Doug was a truly dedicated public servant who was respected by those fortunate enough to know him.
Mrs. Swacina, Dwane and Linda:
We were so sorry to read about Dr. Swacina's passing. Mom had told us that she received a Christmas card indicating he had had a stroke, but thought things were ok since it was mentioned that you thought he would be coming home.
We all have such good memories of going to Swacina's in Scotland Village. Playing in that wonderful backyard, the big cable holders that we would play on by the hours, the player piano in the garage, Cola, the beautiful Pontiac cars, Mrs. Swacina's wonderful chocolate cake (which, by the way, my mom can't find her recipe and I would love to have - even though I don't need it!), the home movies, the book on the Kennedy's sitting in your living room, Grandma, our dad's fishing trips - all great memories of when you guys were in Rio.
Again, we just wanted to tell you how sorry we are. Even though 40 years have passed, we still have you as great memories and you are in our hearts.
