Don, you were a friend when I needed one the most. We had a trust and faith in each other that grew over the years.
I will miss you, dear friend.
Keep flying high.
Soulmates will always meet again, even if it takes a couple of lifetimes.
I love you.
It has been a difficult road, hasn't it? This disease is so cruel as it chips away at what makes you who you are. Don was such a sweet, sweet man and he loved Debbie so very, very much. It seems like just yesterday I witnessed the joining of these two souls who were destined for each other...
Debbie, you can take comfort in knowing that you took such tender care of Don, you did it all -- seeing to it that his every need was met, keeping him safe, offering him reassurance, re-orienting him when he needed it, and most of all -- making sure he knew he was loved. He did, you know...of that I am certain. I am praying for you and for Don, asking God to welcome him to the place where he is free of his earthly ails -- the home where we will all meet again one day, and we'll dance together...
Hugs, Elaine
Uncle Don was a very unique person, and my mother adored him! He had special talents not listed in the obit, such as a great imitator of Donald Duck (that is also what my childred called him) and a great "gum popper". He taught me this at a young age, and now I annoy my entire family with my gum-popping abilities. I know he would be proud of that! I hope he & his adoring sisters and parents are enjoying their reunion as I write this. Love to the family, Debbie, Mallory & all the kids.

It is our prayer that the Lord will bring comfort to all of the Hurd family during this time of difficulty and loss.
