Donald Raymond Pitts' Obituary
Donald Raymond Pitts went to be with his Heavenly Father surrounded by family on Monday September 9th, 2019. He was born December 11, 1938, the son of the late Raymond Sydney and Ethel Ava (Johnson) Pitts in Goshen, AR.
Don was Chairman of United Bank and was also Chairman/CEO of United Built Homes. He founded United Bank from Little River Saving & Loan in 1978 and began his career with UBH in 1960. He also served on the boards of Ventures for Christ, Rodeo Foundation Committee and received the Chairman’s Award by the Arkansas League of Savings Institutions. He attended University Baptist Church. In his younger years he participated in rodeo events (barrel racing) with his girls, coached youth basketball with his boys and was a avid supporter of Fayetteville Athletic Booster Club.
He was most happy in life spending time with his family and helping others. His care and compassion showed in everything he did. In his own words “realize that you should give your best every day in life and know that the most important success will be how you lived and served by being a disciple. “
He is survived by his wife Patricia Ruth (Gray) Pitts of 61 years, children, Kellie Anne Lavy (Trevor), Lisa Kaye Pitts, Donnie Ray (Isabel), Darrin Gray (Marci) and Andrew Ryan (Crystal), grandchildren Brittany Priest (Chase), Hannah Lavy, Emma Bradford (Sam), Olivia Lavy, Anna-Grace Lavy, Trey Pitts, Louis Pitts, Elizabeth Pitts, Allie Pitts, Madison Ho (Tyler), Avery Pitts, Wryn Pitts, Sloane Pitts, Hudson Pitts, and Graydon Pitts, and his great grandchildren John Grady Priest, Langley Priest, Griffin Priest, and Boden Bradford, and his brother, Dewey Pitts.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 15th from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, September 16th at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
