Dorothy Wood's Obituary
Dorothy Wood, age 94, of Fayetteville passed away in hospice care March 21, 2020 at Butterfield Trail Village.
She was born Dorothy Jean Johnson on September 17, 1925 in Flint, Michigan. She was a 1943 graduate of Flint Central High School and graduated from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Jack Wood M.D., her parents Dorothy Hill and William Johnson, her stepfather Glenn Petrie and her brother William Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Wood and his wife Donna, Amy Wood, Ann Hillian and her husband Russ all of Fayetteville, Nancy Bates and her husband Ron of West Plains, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jenni Ashford and her husband Jacob, Jesse Bates and Holly Bates; two great grandchildren, Jax and Jericho; nieces and nephews, Linda, John, Rob, Will and Susie.
Dottie enjoyed her activity in PEO, her work supporting the Fayetteville Public Library and contributing as an alum of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a first class cook, an avid reader and pursued all things social, as long as it involved her friends and family.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. There will be a private family service at a later time.
