E. Louise 'Boots' Davis Williams' Obituary
E. Louise “Boots” Davis Williams, born August 16, 1929, in Huntington, Arkansas, died June 25, 2014, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in Huntington, Arkansas, graduated from Mansfield High School in 1947, then moved with her family to Fayetteville, Arkansas. She attended the University of Arkansas, where she was elected Agri Queen in 1949. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1951 and a Master of Science degree in Nutrition in 1969. She was a research specialist at the University of Arkansas, retiring in 1995 with 29 years of service. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and for many years was active in Sigma Xi and several community organizations, including Business and Professional Women, United Church Women, and she served as president of both the Women’s Civic Club and the League of Women Voters. By her example she taught her children to participate and to lead both in the church and in the community. She also passed on her love of the outdoors and her interest in learning about history, people, and places through travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse D. Williams, her parents, William A. and Grace Harwell Davis, and two brothers, William O. Davis and Albert L. Davis. She is survived by three daughters, Vida R. Williams of Texarkana, Arkansas, Amy Williams Bowen and husband Jeffrey Bowen of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Catherine Williams Cobb and husband David Cobb of The Woodlands, Texas; four grandchildren, Daniel Bowen of Little Rock, Carrie Bowen of Little Rock, Elizabeth Cobb Kutka of The Woodlands, Texas, and Sarah Cobb of New Orleans, Louisiana; her brother George A. Davis and his wife Jeanette of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her sister Shirley Davis Bridges of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two great-grandsons, Isaac Bowen and David Kutka; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4:00PM to 6:00PM Sunday June 29, 2014 at Moore’s Chapel. Service will be held 10:00 AM Monday at Central United Methodist Church with Reverend Carl Palmer and Reverend Tony Holifield officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens following the service.
