Edward Clayton Kinsey's Obituary
Edward Clayton “Hoot” Kinsey, age 95, of Fayetteville, died Monday, June 14, 2021 in Fayetteville. He was born January 3, 1926 in Poteau, Oklahoma, the son of William and Hessie Rosie Ray Kersh Kinsey.
He is survived by his youngest sister Marie Kendall of Sapulpa, OK. He was predeceased by his brother Carl Ray Kinsey, and sisters Florene Tromblee, Betty Chaney, Anna Dell Tisdale and Letitia Fruge.
He is survived by his wife Verne “Vickie” Adams Kinsey; four sons, Van Alan Kinsey, Edward Drew Kinsey, Douglas Clayton Kinsey, and Blake Adam Kinsey; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was an entrepreneur, business owner, and a United States Navy World War II veteran. He served in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Thetis Bay. Edward participated in a 2011 Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Edward graduated in 1944 from Fayetteville High School. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Education. While attending the University, Edward was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
‘Hoot’ was the first ever Mr. Arkansas body building champion in 1948. He won a second championship in 1949.
He was also a member of First United Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Moore’s Chapel. He will be interred at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
