Ernestine W. Gibson's Obituary
Mrs. Ernestine W. Gibson, 57 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in Fayetteville, AR. She was born March 31, 1952 in Marianna, AR to Ernest and Ruthie DavisWhite. She was presently employed as an administrative assistant in Student Support Services at the University of Arkansas.
She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church for 33 years, president of Northwest Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee where she was instrumental in the effort to rename Sixth Street in Fayetteville to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She was also the University of Arkansas Black Alumni Society Secretary.
Her husband Robert Gibson III, one son; Robert Gibson IV of Las Vegas, NV, one daughter; Deanna Michelle Stokes of Winston Salem, NC, two sisters;Delois White of West Memphis, AR, Donna White of Memphis, TN, one brother; David White of West Memphis, AR, and one grandson survive her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Fayetteville High School gymnasium with Pastor Curtiss Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
