Mrs. Ethel Pauline "Polly" or "MAMAW" Hanning, 91 of Fayetteville, AR passed from this life on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR. Mrs. Hanning was born December 7, 1914 in Van Bur Read Obituary
I called her "Aunt Polly" I remember the
nights of hot dogs ....my parents and
Polly and Thell playing cards and David
and I playing Monopoly. Through the years they were always there for each
other. I visited Polly when she was in
Arkanshire. I will always remember her with love. Remembering Prescott and all
the wonderful times.
Rest in Peace Aunt Polly. I love you.

I am Bobby Thurman of Eureka Springs, Arkansas' daughter. Aunt Polly was a wonderful person who I loved visiting with when I lived in Fayetteville. She told some remarkable stories! I'm sorry I can't be there for the funeral services. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

So sorry we can't be with you, but know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
I met Polly at the Gardens of Arkanshire where my mother, Josephine Huth, was also living. She was the sweetest lady and befriended my mom with love and caring. They sat together in the dining room for more than a year and I enjoyed eating and visiting with her when I dined with my mother. Polly "looked after" my mother and made her many handcrafted gifts, which she also made for many other people. Her faith in Jesus Christ was evident, and she shared this love of God in the sincere and caring way she connected with others. She often made things for me, too--one of my favorites was the "prayer rock". My mother just passed away on January 17, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are greeting each other right now. I am delighted to have known this lovely lady!!!

I was always so very anxious to get to
Aunt Polly's & Uncle Thell's house! You
both made our visits a happy time. One
of our special memories were the big
breakfast's, around the big round table in
your kitchen. Also the wonderful times at
the lake cabin with all the family.
Tell all "hello" for us. May God's comfort
be with each of you. Tell we meet again.

We were sorry to hear of Aunt Polly's passing. She held a special place in our hearts, and we have many fond memories of times spent with her and Uncle Thell.

Hi Aunt Polly:
You and Uncle Thel were truly two special people. You were the "baby" sister of my great-grandmother Myrtle "Nammy", but you were a gracious yet strong force of nature yourself in the extended James family. The only thing you were short in was height. You were very tall in kindness, graciousness, generosity and integrity. It was always such a treat to visit with you and Uncle Thel. You will be very very missed by all of us.
Please say hi to Thell, your David, Myrtle, June, both Clydes, Beulah & Curtis, and Bess for me, and to your brothers and sisters who I never met in this lifetime. Rest in peace, Aunt Polly.
Aunt Polly was a true Southern Lady! Sweet, loving & kind. Her home & loving arms were always open to family & friends 24/7. She might have been small in stature, but she had the largest & most loving/kind heart of anyone I have ever known.
It was always hard to leave their home ( she & Uncle Thell ) after a visit. Sometimes we made a 2nd pass by their home before leaving Benton, to bid another ( & silent ) farewell.
Aunt Polly, you will always remain in our hearts & minds & your presence on this earth will be greatly missed!
