Rev Otha F. Tackett's Obituary
Reverend Otha Farris Tackett, 87, lifetime resident of Northwest Arkansas, died Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Springdale. He was born on October 13, 1918 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Ollie Tackett and Etta Bogan Tackett. He was a resident of Springdale for over 50 years and was a well known minister, businessman, and auctioneer. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp, and an Army veteran of World War II. For 37 years he was the pastor at Pentecostal Temple Church in Fayetteville. He was the proprietor of Otha Tackett Auto Sales and Salvage. His retirement years were spent in the resale business, but his true love was his ministry.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judean Carter Tackett of the home, and the following children and their spouses: James Farris Tackett and Leola of Springdale, Dr. Zachary Michael Tackett and Elizabeth of Louisville, KY, Virginia Louise Tackett Laughlin of Springdale, Joyce Tackett Miller Sinclair and Dr. John Sinclair of Omaha, AR, Michael Cothran of Springdale, Randall Cothran and Faye of Booneville, AR, Tom Cothran of Booneville, AR, Helen Cothran Belcher and Jim of Springdale, Kay Cothran Dial and Britt of Springdale; one brother, J. D. Tackett of Fayetteville, AR and two sisters, Lois Corbitt of Elm Springs and Linda Hinkle of Elm Springs, Arkansas. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 34 years, Angie Pauline Paschal Tackett, one daughter, Othelia Paulette Tackett, and three brothers, Donald, Bill, and Carl Tackett.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 12, at 1 p.m. at Nelson-Berna with graveside services and burial at Whitehouse Cemetery. Pallbearers are Britt Dial, Richard Roberts, Jr., Michael Hastings, James Robert Tackett, Blake Miller, Paul Tackett, David Carruth, Michael Roberts, Grant Lynch, and Lonnie Dickard. Honorary pallbearers are Cheryl Carruth, Phyllis Roberts, Debbie Vaughn, Michelle Nichols, John Miller, Tessa Miller Hastings and Rachel Tackett. Memorials may be made to the Otha Farris Tackett Memorial Fund at First Security Bank, Springdale, Arkansas.
