Jack Cauwels, and the life he lived — a faithful follower of Jesus — as a father, husband and friend made a remarkable impact on my life as a teenager. Tho I was blessed with wonderful parents of my own, being in the Cauwel’s home and watching them live out their Christian lives, made me want what all that they all had. It was the first home I’d ever been in with bibles open on the kitchen table and inspirational Bible verses hung on the walls. The Cauwels family was the real deal…and their lives changed lives of others…
As a result, I will always look to Jack and Phylis as my “Christian mom and dad”…and thankful the Lord brought Denise, their daughter, into my life to be my best friend in high school. Thanks to her parents, Denise gave me my first Bible shortly after we met, and I eventually gave my life to the Lord thereafter because of my relationship with the Cauwel’s family.
Jack had a way of making each person he came in contact with seen and loved. I loved watching him love others as he did so well. Heaven is certainly a little brighter today and I have no doubt he heard the words, “well done, my good and faithful servant”.
