Jeff had the best cackle laugh like no other. A couple of funny memories that come to mind: I had a New Year's Eve party in Pine Bluff, and Jeff wanted to leave early...yes, he was a homebody. So my mother, who was probably 80, offered to take him home. He and Brenda lived in Deerfield at the time, and it was about 20 minutes from my house. Jeff shared with me later that he doesn't know how my Mom didn't have a car wreck because she talked the entire time, facing Jeff and never looked at the road. Yes, my Mom had the "gift of gab." She passed away at 101 this past April. Another story: Brenda and Jeff offered me a ticket to a Fayetteville Razorbacks game while they were living in Little Rock. We go in Jeff's Cadillac, the same vehicle he would take his large dogs to the river. The car had a very strong scent of "dogs," and black dog hair was all over the car. The odor didn't faze Jeff at all, and I had to keep the window rolled down the entire trip! Jeff was always dressed so dapper that I don't know how he kept the dog hair off his clothes. Go figure.
Jeff loved Brenda so much and let her travel with me, and never complained. And he loved his kids, and they made him so proud to be their Dad, but his dogs were treated like people.
I will miss his laugh, his funny sense of humor, and eavesdropping on my phone calls with Brenda.
Such a fine, honest, loyal person. May your days in heaven give you rest and peace.
