Jeffrey Hudgens Jeter's Obituary
Jeffrey Hudgens Jeter, age 78, of Fayetteville, AR passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, with his wife, Brenda, by his side. Jeff was a bright, quick-witted, funny, kind-hearted man. He was an honest and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor and friend and tried his best in everything he did.
Born on January 11, 1948, in Pine Bluff, AR, Jeff grew up in Altheimer, AR on his family’s farm and graduated from Altheimer High School in 1966 where he was a star basketball athlete. He then went on to the University of Arkansas, pledging Sigma Alpha Epsilon and graduated with a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1972. After graduating, he worked with his Uncle Bob Hardy’s highway construction company in Pine Bluff and settled there. At age 32, he met Brenda and they married on October 10,1980 and had Jara and Jordan shortly after. He changed his career path, working for First South in Pine Bluff then later became a multi-award-winning agent with the Equitable, working as Life Insurance Salesman and Financial Advisor. Once his children went to college, Jeff and Brenda moved to Little Rock, AR. Jeff was a routined and disciplined man - the local donut shop knew him by name and order, and he rarely missed a workout. Jeff and Brenda resided in Little Rock for 18 years making great friends and memories as empty nesters until they moved to Fayetteville, AR to build their final home together and be closer to their kids and grandkids.
Jeff was a man of deep faith in God and in Christ. He read the bible frequently and studied philosophies. His books he read often are filled with underlines, highlights, thoughts jotted down in the margins and bookmarks on his favorite pages. He kept detailed hand-written notes of the verses, lessons and truths that resonated with him that he passed down to his children as they matured into adulthood.
Jeff had a unique personality and wonderful sense of style. He was an avid golfer - the Pine Bluff Country Club Senior Champion in 2015. He enjoyed watching sports and talking about the Razorbacks. He had a serious sweet-tooth and was into luxury cars, music and movies. He loved animals, especially his pets, and mostly, he loved his family. He took great pride in being a father and grandfather. Jeff wanted to be present for his grandchildren and made the time for their recitals, graduations and awards. Jeff really wanted to be there for his kids and the grandchildren’s events and showed up for them until he was no longer able.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Brenda Henderson Jeter; his children Jara Hill (Mitchell) and Jordan Jeter; his grandchildren, Rhett Hill, Hattie Hill, Vada Hill and Alexa Jeter; and brother, Ronnie Jeter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hudgens and Joye Jeter. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family kindly requests donations in Jeff’s name to The Humane Society of the Ozarks.
A funeral will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Son’s Chapel in Fayetteville, AR.
