Attended Oaklawn Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs when Bennie's dad was the Sunday School Superintendent and his mother was our pianist. I always
knew God had special plans for Bennie.
I'm glad to have known him as a child and that God used him to further the work of the kingdom. Bennie, save a place for me in the pew next to you in that heavenly sanctuary! I'm on my way!

I saw the obituary in the online edition of The Sentinel-Record in Hot Springs AR. I hadn't seen Bennie since I was a child at Oaklawn Missionary Baptist Church. He and his family lived down the street on Oaklawn Blvd. from my grandparents not far from the church, where my grandfather was caretaker. Bennie was in my Sunday School class, taught by Ernie Pryor. I lost touch with him, as so many of us do, when people move away. But my father, Cecil, who died in 1968 at age 57, spoke highly of Bennie. Dad had been an alcoholic for years but finally was saved by the Lord from his cravings and joined AA. He heard Bennie preach somewhere, probably at Oaklawn, in 1968 and told me what a great preacher he was. I'm sorry I never got the chance to hear him, but I remember him and his father, Ernest, and that his mother, Lottie, was our pianist for many years at Oaklawn. Good memories for me. I'm so glad he became a missionary and served for 17 years in Japan, my wife's homeland. My brother, Don, is now a Baptist minister in Hot Springs. I'm sure he'll be visiting this nice Web site. The photos are great. I shall miss Bennie, a fellow Christian. My sympathies to his family. May God bless each of them.
Bennie and his family have helped so many college-aged students make the adjustment easier to "life on your own". I am fortunate enough to have been one of these and will always be thankful for the guidence he gave me in my years at the University. You are all in my and my family's prayers.
Bro. McWha was a great friend and even a father figure to me. He (and his family) ministered to me in so many ways... spiritually, emotionally, physically and even financially once when struggling through some medical problems while attending school in Fayetteville. He was also my mentor direct from the Lord. I will never forget all the personal time he spent with me in EE. He showed me how to serve the Lord. It is hard to know he is gone from us now, but very comforting to know that he is with the Lord. He spent his entire life serving, loving, helping and guiding others. I feel blessed to have been in his shadow for even just a while. I thank God for him and Shelby. I pray that the Lord will comfort the family in this loss and sad time. I love you all. Billy Corbin
Pastor McWha meant a lot to me. He's had as much influence in my life as anyone. I learned so much from him at Central. He had a heart for God and His truth. I thank him and Shelby for opening their home to me many times when I was in college - just to visit, seek counsel sometimes, and be a home away from home.
Our deepest sympathy and prayers are with each of you. We worked with Bennie and he was a dear friend. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow.

Rev. McWha was a very special and wise man. We consider having known him to be a gift. We praise God for Rev. McWha's willingness to be a channel through which the love of Christ flowed. His life reflected his obedience and love of the Lord through his work and actions on this earth. We know that he will be greatly missed by all, but his memories will always be special treasurers.

We are saddened by the death of this great man of the Lord. Many men say their life is dedicated to the Lord and His principles for life. Bennie not only said it, he lived it. No greater thing could be said of Bennie McWha than that he was a brother in Christ, a Christian. We looked to him many times in our lives to give us a glimpse of Christ. He was predictable, dependable, and trustworthy. As a family leader, he was an example to us, as well as to many others. His quiver was indeed "full". He loved his family and friends.
To Shelby, Earnie, Carrie, and Diane, we are truly sorry for your loss and we know how much you hurt right now. Your faith will see you through! God bless each of you and your families.
We were hoping the funeral would be on Monday so we could get there and back between clinic visits. I dialyze on Saturday evening and it is very difficult to get going early the next morning. Just know we are with you in spirit and our prayers. We love you.
