Biography
Prof. John F. Andrews, 80, of Fayetteville, died April 10, 2011, at Springdale Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born July 10, 1930, in Cave City, to the late Frank and Ruth Andrews.
He received his PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of California Berkeley. He taught at the University of Arkansas, Clemson University, University of Houston and was a retired Professor Emeritus from Rice University. A pioneer in waste management treatments, he was a guest lecturer in Japan, China, England and Canada. He was very proud of the numerous graduate students he mentored.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margery Ann Andrews and his brother, Charles.
He is survived by his children, Patrick Andrews of Springdale, Carol Egolf of Fayetteville and Laura Andrews of Splendora, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Holly and Johnathan.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2011, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Moore’s Chapel with interment to follow at Son’s Chapel Cemetery.
