JOHN KENDRICK COAN
John Kendrick Coan, 71, of Springdale, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County.
He was born June 1, 1940 in Camden, Arkansas, the son of Stephen and Mae Kendrick Coan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Coan, his parents and a brother.
He was a retired produce broker for Schmieding Brothers, a member of the Ozark Food Processors Association, St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Springdale and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a U. S. Army veteran.
He is survived by twin daughters, Deborah Kaye Coan and Melanie Anne Coan, both of Springdale; two grandchildren, Jessica Anne Garr and husband Andrew of Topeka, KS and Jordan Kendrick Coan of Springdale; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Wilson of West Monroe, LA; two nieces, Grace Kalish and her husband Dan of Seattle, WA and Stephanie Jester and her husband Greg of West Monroe, LA; a nephew, John Wilson and his wife Kathy of West Monroe, LA; a brother-in-law, Joe Short and his wife Sally of Hope, AR and a sister-in-law, Marna Short of Cabot, AR; an aunt, Virginia Rook of Conway and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Springdale, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
Burial will be private at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday at Moore’s Chapel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Allen, Jim Robason, Gary Owens, Robby Zink, Lonnie Watson, Joe Weber, V. H. Taylor and Lance Taylor.
