I was saddened to see Joe's obituary in the Morning News, also suprised to learn that he was in NW Arkansas.
Joe as I knew him in the Corps gave new meaning to the comission of LDO. He claimed it meant Loud Dumb and Obnoxious. I knew that for Joe it meant getting the job done with style, speed and percision. Line officers, like myself, knew to back off and let people like Joe bring all their experience and knowledge to bear in getting the job done.
Joe was a credit to the Corps.
My children CPT Murray Ann Mallett USA and SSgt Mark Adam Mallett USMC also send their regrets.

The last time I saw Joe (1956) little did I know it would be the last time. A favorite as a youngster I have thought of him often. Tho we go to Arkansas every couple of years I did not know he was there untill we arrived home from our last visit. Oh how I wish it wasn't too late. It is so sad when families drift apart. My condolences to his wife and children and the entire Vchulek family.
