Mrs. Katherine Miller Kane, 88 of Butterfield Trail Village passed away Tuesday, May 06, 2003 in the Butterfield Trail Village Health Care Unit. She was born April 25, 1915 in Hereford, TX to James Hamilton "J.H." and Ethel Estel Read Obituary
Dear Carolyn-I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know your mother was a very special lady. I remember when we were in Washington Elementary and you lived across the street. Your mother demonstrated daily her caring and loving nature. She would be in the yard waiting for you to come home and several times did nice things for our class. I know you will miss her greatly. My thoughts are with you.

We were saddened to hear of Katherine's passing. We pray for the comfort that God and lasting memories can provide to Carolyn, Phyllis and the remaining family members.
It was an honor and a privilege to have known her, and by virtue of our relationship, to meet her daughters. She was a grand and sweet lady who will be easily remembered.

Katherine was a gallant lady. I enjoyed having lunch with her at BTV at the "Table for Six". Sadly many of those who enjoyed our lunch conversations have now departed and others joined the table. I last saw Katherine while doing my volunteer stint of delivering mail in HCC. She was asleep so I couldn't speak to her.

May the family find peace after so long a faithful watch through illness. Our thoughts are there at the memorial services, even though we can't be present in person. We know the services will be carried out with the dignity and honor that has characterized our friend and colleague Dr. Carolyn Kane's devotion to her mother; we hope that these final ceremonies bring with them a sense of fulfillment and that both she and her sister will know that "nothing comes of nothing" can never be said of their own filial devotion, expressed in their own different ways.
