Kathleen V. Hubbell's Obituary
FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Kathleen V. Hubbell, 79, beloved wife and widow of Ned Stone Hubbell, died peacefully of natural causes in her Fayetteville, Arkansas home, November 4, 2007, where they lived since Ned?s retirement in 1997.
Mrs. Hubbell was born June 4, 1928 in Port Huron, Michigan where she grew up and raised her family. As a young woman, she wanted to become a nurse, inspired by her great aunt (Emma Marzahn), who was the first woman superintendent of Evangelical Hospital in Detroit. After graduating from Port Huron (MI) High School, she studied nursing for one year at Wayne State University.
She married Ned Hubbell on August 26, 1950 in Port Huron, Michigan. While raising her family, her lifelong love of nursing led her to volunteer for 15 years in the Port Huron Hospital emergency room, where she loved the excitement.
From 1974-1981, Katie was office manager for Ned S. Hubbell & Associates, supporting her husband's national public relations and opinion research consulting firm. After she and Ned moved to East Lansing, Michigan, Katie became the development and PR office secretary at Ingham Medical Center (East Lansing), from 1981 to 1984. Thereafter, and before her retirement in 1992, she was the office manager for Dr. Roberta Zapp in East Lansing.
She is survived by three children, Kenneth Robert (Trish) of Little Rock, AR.; Gary James (Jana) of Milwaukee, WI.; Susan Lee (Christopher) Shipp of Basalt, CO.; four grandchildren (Jennifer and Andrew; Christian and Aaron); and three great grandchildren. Also surviving her are two dear brothers, George (Joyce) Reid of Port Ritchie, FL; and Bob (Joan Alice) Reid of Fairfield Bay, AR, and several nieces and nephews.
A brief service for immediate family was held in Fayetteville.
