Kathryn Marie Fairchild's Obituary
With regret, we announce the passing of the ever respected Kathryn Marie Fairchild.
Kathryn Marie Fairchild, 63 of West Plains, MO formerly of Fayetteville, AR passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in Springdale, AR. She was born November 24, 1946 in Ames, Iowa to Robert S. Fairchild and Juanita Marie (Brown) Fairchild.
She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. She attended the University of Arkansas and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work and a juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas school of law.
She worked in public affairs for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas in governmental insurance. She then returned to Fayetteville and honorably joined the University of Arkansas staff, where she served and touch many lives as Retirement Coordinator, Grievance Officer and Assistant Director of Affirmative Action. She retired in 2008 with compliance officer emeritus status.
She was an avid reader, an admirer of nature, and a caregiver to anyone in need. She was a member of Elk Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in West Plains.
She is survived by two loving daughters. Donna Marie Clark of Fayetteville and her children A.J. Davis, Jacob Davis and Hannah Davis. Katie Tennant of Fayetteville, her husband Justin Tennant and their two children Jackson and Campbell Tennant. Two brothers; Robert S. Fairchild II of Bella Vista, AR, William V. and Mary Beth Fairchild of Decatur, AR. One sister; Annie F. Heath of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was also loved by several nieces and nephews.
She was a wise mother, a playful grandmother, and a consummate professional. She will be missed by all.
Memorial service will be Friday, January 22, 2010 1:30 pm at Giffels Auditorium in Old Main on the University of Arkansas campus.
Memorial contributions may be made to Elk Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
