I had the good fortune to share homeroom with Keely in high school at Briarcrest HS in Memphis, TN. I met her buddy Paul, who was in the same class as we were, and the 3 of us became inseparable.
I remember Keely’s sweet smile and disposition. We loved to cut up and laugh for hours. Swimming at Paul’s house during the summer was a regular routine. We are fortunate that gas was cheap because when we weren’t yacking it up on someone’s bed, we were driving around…and around…and around.
Keely had a bit of a crush on Paul, but I am glad things worked out the way they did. I’m sure she and Marcus are as well. I have to admit I let her bend my ear more than a few times about that teenage crush. Lol
I was so sad when Keely moved. Paul had a girlfriend and I was left to navigate Senior year with new friends. I will never forget those glorious days together. My life is better for having known such a sweet soul.
After reconnecting on FB, we had planned for 8 years to see each other and finally had solid plans for next month. Breaks my heart that we waited so long.
Sadly I did not own a camera in the early 80s so I don’t have photos of us. I am posting 3 pictures that defined our time in Memphis: our high school; Paul’s 2-story house; and Keelys 1-story house.
Much love to Marcus and family. You are in my prayers
