Lanny Kirk's Obituary
Lanny Paul Kirk, age 74, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015. He was born March 28, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Lance Kirk and Nadine Ponsler.
Lanny attended John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, remaining close with many classmates over the years. Following high school he joined the United States Marine Corp. Upon returning to Oklahoma City, he worked for Apco Oil retiring after 20 years. He joined Oklahoma Tank Lines/United Petroleum Transport in 1982 and retired after 20 years. He enjoyed golf and antique cars, was a friend to many and always ready to share a laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rhonda (Akerman) Kirk; one daughter, Carrie Lynn Brown and her husband Robert of Bixby, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Zach Hemphill and Nathan Brown, his beloved dog, Bella; and his in-laws, Bob and Deloris Akerman of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Deborah and Daryl Bailey of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Bobby and Roseann Akerman of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Darin and Loyce Akerman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Margie and Randy Evans of Exeter, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Walter (Jeep) Kirk.
Visitation will be 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Friday February 6, 2015 at Moore’s Chapel. Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Friday at Moore’s Chapel with burial of ashes to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors.
