Leila M. Keim's Obituary
Miss Leila M. Keim, 81 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004 in Fayetteville, AR. She was born October 11, 1922, the daughter of Marvin and Esther (Grantham) Keim on the family farm north of Sabetha, KS.
Upon her graduation from Sabetha High School, she entered nurses training at the St. Anthony Hospital in Sabetha. After receiving her Nurse's Cap, she entered the U.S. Army as an officer and served in Japan during World War II.
After returning to the states, she attended Marymount College in Salina, KS and graduated in 1953.
Miss Keim then moved to Fayetteville, AR where she was a devoted nurse at the Veteran's Administration Hospital for more than 30 years.
Upon her retirement in 1982, she continued to make Fayetteville her home where she resided for more than 50 years.
Among her many friends and co-workers, Janet McCumpsy and Mary Paxson deserve special recognition fro enabling Miss Keim to continue to live independently.
Cousins, Mary and Richard Rieger of Hiawatha, KS, Lennis and Thomas Smith of Versailles, KY, and Janice and Larry Warner of Salina, KS have come to know the love her friends shared with Leila during her recent hospitalization.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2004 from noon until 5:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 11, 2004 in Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Richard Hyde officiating. Graveside burial services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2004 in Sabetha Cemetery in Sabetha, KS.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to research for Parkinson's Disease
