Llewellyn "Brown" Pendleton's Obituary
Llewellyn "Brown" Pendleton, our beloved brother in Christ, passed away at the age of 68 on February 28. Although we were not ready to lose him, we find comfort in knowing he is now in Heaven, free from any pain.
Brown was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2022 and proved to be a true warrior during his three-year battle, enduring his treatments with remarkable strength and little complaint. His unwavering faith and the prayers of countless individuals from his Christian community uplifted him, allowing him to surpass his original prognosis of 18 months. He felt truly blessed by each and every prayer offered on his behalf.
Born on April 19, 1956, to Mary Carolyn and Joseph Pendleton in Fayetteville, AR, Brown remained a lifelong resident of the city. He graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture in 1979 and enjoyed an illustrious 36-year career with BenchMark Group, an architecture and engineering firm in Rogers, AR. Even after his recent retirement, he continued to serve as a trusted mentor to several of his colleagues.
In 1999, Brown's life took a new direction when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He devoted himself to his faith, becoming a dedicated student of the Bible and a man of prayer. Prayer was truly his gift, one he generously shared with countless others. He was a longtime member of the Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, but later joined Christ Church in Fayetteville in 2023 as a founding partner.
Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Carolyn and Joseph Pendleton, and his brother, Larry Pendleton. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Therese; his children, Betty Wilton (Logan), Jessica Muldoon LaPiere, Sean Pendleton (Mandy), and Steve Pendleton; his grandchildren, Penelope Pendleton, Evelyn Pendleton, Lennon Muldoon, Liam Muldoon, and Micah Llewellyn Wilton; and many friends and in-laws. His family was one of his greatest joys.
Brown's strength, perseverance, love and compassion will forever remain in our hearts. Although we mourn his loss deeply, we find solace in the belief that we will one day be reunited with him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and Dr. Sarah Jewell at Highlands Oncology for blessing Brown with their exceptional care and support.
A celebration of life service will be held 10:00 am Monday March 3, 2025 at Christ Church of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Christ Church at https://christnwa.church/online-giving/. A private burial service for family only will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
