Lois M Baker's Obituary
Lois M. Baker of Fayetteville, age 75 met her Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 18, 2025. She was born in Pine Bluff, AR, to James V. and Willa Cameron Moyers, who are deceased. Also predeceasing her were her stepmother, Retha Moyers; sister, Linda Burchfield of Knoxville, TN; and brother Jack Moyers of Little Rock.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Conrad Baker; son, Alex Baker, and DIL, Teresa Baker of Springdale; sister, Lynn Kelley of Rison; brothers, Joe Moyers and Gary Moyers of west Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.
She lived a life of dedication to church, family, and community. As careers required, she relocated and found friends and opportunities in each location. She served with Family Services and also the Chapel Programs at Patrick AFB in Florida. In Germany, she worked for The Education Center at Rhine Main AB, as an overseas registrar for several universities. She taught as a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas where she earned her Master’s Degree in English. Then she taught high school in Arkansas, and later, community college in Kansas. Between teaching assignments, she worked for engineering firms in Arkansas and in Kansas.
Along the way, she served twice as president of her local P.E.O. chapters and once as president of United Methodist Women. Several of her devotionals were published in The Upper Room over the years. For five years in Kansas, she and her therapy pet, Miss Daisy, visited a retirement center.
In addition to her family, her interests included flower gardening, writing poetry, and painting. Her family and friends are comforted by her faith that she is now with her Lord Jesus and celebrating with loved ones.
Visitation will be 10:00 am – 11:00 am Thursday January 23, 2025 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:00 am following the visitation at Moore’s Chapel with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
