Margeret Ellen Thurman Taylor's Obituary
Margaret Ellen Thurman Taylor, born November 9, 1938, in Lincoln, Arkansas, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior after a life devoted to faith, family, and service on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was the daughter of Bertus F. Thurman and Flossie E. Hulse Thurman Pettit. Margaret was a devoted believer in the Gospel of Christ and a faithful witness to all she met. Her love for her Savior was evident in her daily walk and in the many mission trips where she shared her faith with others. She was a long-time member of University Baptist Church and also attended Buckner Baptist Church. A lifelong educator, Margaret dedicated many years to teaching in the Fayetteville Public School system, where her passion for children and education touched countless young lives. After her marriage to Sam Huston Taylor, the couple enjoyed traveling extensively and making memories together. Margaret was also a proud Razorback fan, attending many games with her dearest friend, Cinda. She found great joy in the companionship of her beloved dogs, Pixie and Shorty, who were faithful friends to her. Margaret was known for her caring heart and her constant desire to help others. She had a way of truly listening and offering wise counsel, leaving a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know her. Margaret never shied away from speaking the truth—if something wasn’t right, she would be the first to tell you—but she did so with love and honesty, always pointing others toward what was good and right. Her advice was thoughtful and sincere, and her encouragement lifted many during difficult times. She is survived by several cousins and many friends who deeply loved her. Her legacy of faith, honesty, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM with a service beginning at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for your prayers, love, and support during this time.
