Marie Eleanor Garvey Fowler, 79, went to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, January 10, 2013. She passed away in her sleep, surrounded by her sister, Barbara Garvey Jackson of Fayetteville, and her daughter, Julia Marie Fowler Read Obituary
Julia, Barbara Jan, and Dr. Fowler,I have such happy memories of Mrs. Fowler. She was kind and generous and so intelligent. She always provided an interesting perspective on the world and shared her vast knowledge of gardening, cooking, and many other subjects. She was a truly special person and I know she will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to you and your family.
As short as your stay at home was, I'm grateful that is where your story ended. Gerald, Julia, and Barbara Jan - the boys and I send our love, and you are in our prayers.
My beautiful Mom, You have given me so many wonderful memories. Your kindness and open heart has touched so many people during your time here. I love you more than words can say and I am thankful you are with Candice now. You brought so much to all that knew you and I am so blessed that you were my Mom. I couldn't of picked anyone better! Dear Dr. Fowler, Family & Friends.Marie was the most generous, joyous sharer of herbs, history, art, recipes and so much knowledge. Her Taylor's Tarragon Wafers remain one of my favorite cookies. She was president my initial year in Herb Society. I lay- in-wait like a stalker for the end of the meetings to barrage with endless questions. She always made time for me even with the burden of the presidency and travel.As her health declined, any visit by her or to her was a grand occasion for our chapter and many Master Gardeners. Many years later when she began distributing her library, our newbie herbarists thot they had 'died and gone' to heaven with her gifts to them. Never pretentious, Marie made everything seem approachable and attainable. WOW, that is some gift. May Love and Compassion envelope you as we mourn the loss of her earthly presence. May we keep her joy & memory alive by sharing her many presents.
Marie was a dear, kind lady who was always smiling. Knew her at First Presbyterian and as "The Herb Lady". We will miss her. I'm keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Reading of Marie's death brought back many fond memories of the good times we shared when she lived in Huntsville. I keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart sunk when I heard the news of Marie's obituary in today's paper. I would have loved spending additional time with her before her passing away, but cherish the moments I have spent with her years ago. I've spoken of her several times just this past week, but specifically mentioned her during our Herb Meeting Thursday evening in Northwest Arkansas. I gave her credit for my continued interest, knowledge and love of herbs. Marie was instrumental in sparking that love in many of us as we/I was a loyal patron at her greehouse business, her fabulous classes and then the Herb Society of Arkansas. What a wonderful lady and educator she was sharing with others and pioneering the way for those who were attracted to her spirit! Marie will be dearly missed but will always be loving remembered.
