Marilyn M. Schoppmeyer's Obituary
Marilyn M. Schoppmeyer, age 91, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on August 23, 2021, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born on October 13, 1929, in New Madrid, New York, to Leon and Carolyn (Thompson) Myers.
Marilyn graduated from the University of Florida with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. Marilyn’s legacy as a life-long educator lives on through the innumerable students she taught and teachers she mentored throughout her career. After retiring from Fayetteville Public Schools, Marilyn taught and was an administrator at Haas Hall Academy until 2020.
On August 9, 1957, she married Martin William Schoppmeyer, Sr. They were married for 51 years at the time of his passing.
Marilyn was active at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish in Fayetteville and taught Sunday school. She later joined St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, and her parents, Leon and Carolyn Myers. Marilyn is survived by daughter, Susan Bendure and husband Robert of Fayetteville, and son, Martin W. Schoppmeyer, Jr., and wife Carin of Fayetteville.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial at Fayetteville National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Haas Hall Academy.
