Mark and I were in our High School play together, Peter Pan. I was Peter Pan and he was one of the Lost Boys. I teased him in the last few years about still being a Lost Boy. Mark has crossed into Heavens Gates and is no longer a Lost Boy. Rest In Peace Mark!
My condolences to Ginger, Derek, Ashley, Bob and Rita and Bobby and the rest of the family. Mark was always super polite, always a gentleman, and extremely dependable. Mark faithfully and efficiently ran the sound system at Lakeview Baptist Church . I remember when he dressed up as Snoopy and was on stage at Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church in Cave Springs, ARK. He and my late sister, Barbara Venneberg, were classmates. Mark and I discussed her once.

“So he was your Aunt’s husband, just uncle by marriage.” That’s right. My Uncle.
One of my favorite memories with Mark was when I was around 12 or 13 and we repaired a couple of his model rockets, took them out and launched them, and to recover one, as he was running into the pasture he was yelling at one of the horses saying “don’t you dare step on that!!!”
He was always someone to look up to, literally and figuratively. And I always picture him with a huge smile.
One of my favorite memories of Mark is from my wedding day. We were taking pictures after the ceremony and since everyone else was so much taller than me (I’m 5’1”) Mark pulls a stool out of nowhere for me to stand on. Everyone erupted in laughter and Mark was so tickled with himself. It was one of the highlights from that day. It’s hard to remember a time when Mark wasn’t at the church helping others or taking care of the things that most people don’t think of. He truly had a heart to serve others and his church and even though we will miss him terribly, I know he is loving getting to see his Savior!
Mr. Smittle was my favorite teacher at Rogers High School. He made geometry class so much fun. He had that infectious smile and sarcasm. He is definitely the best. Godspeed Mr. Smittle.
You’ve always had a special place in my heart. ❤️

I have many fond memories of Mark , he was a kindred spirit , always willing to help when he could , I remember many times he would sacrifice his weekends to drive his own van for church youth trips when Lakeview didn't have a big enough bus yet , my heart goes out to the smittle family -Love Stephen Graham
