Martin J. Haest's Obituary
Martin J. Haest Jr., August 31, 1955 - April 9, 2004
The Haest family regretfully announces the passing of Martin J. Haest Jr. on Good Friday April 9, 2004. A beloved father, brother, son, and friend to all, Marty's love for life was evident in every word, relationship, and accomplishment in which he took part. He lived a truly unique life, from his days in Dallas where he built a successful landscaping company and worked as a stock broker, and as an Oil and Gas Operator in San Angelo Texas. Marty also loved the time he spent in New York City and dreamed of having a home there.
Marty founded a major home building and development company in the NW Arkansas area. Marty's dream was to build affordable homes for the first time homeowner. Marty founded River Valley Homes bringing the dream of home ownership to hundreds who never thought that dream would be possible.
While excelling in every business venture that touched his hands, he was most at home carving turns on the waters of a lake on his O'Brien ski or taking a long ride down a country road on his motorcycle.
He quietly helped many and bestowed his generosity freely. His enthusiasm and passion for life inspired his family, friends, and employees. He will be missed by many whose lives he touched. All who knew him will carry their memories as a living witness of a man with a kind heart and seeking spirit. There are many that never knew him beyond the unique moment of altruism that he touched upon their lives.
Marty was a leader, a man of insight, a listener, a patient teacher, a lover of food, and a great storyteller.
Most of all, his pride and love for his children were the energy behind his life. He is lovingly remembered by his parents Martin and Letty, siblings John, Anne, James , and Barry, and children Julie and son-in-law Dan, Martin, Samuel, and Mariel as well as his dear friend and former wife Tracy.
