I know I'm late...8 years too late...but I took her DEATH very hard!
I met Mary in 1958. She was my high school sophomore English teacher.
I became her sorta-secretary helping to grade papers and do other jobs.
After graduating in 1961, and going away to start my career, I never would have thought that I would reconnect with her almost 50 years later. Getting reacquainted and visiting with her in Arkansas was one of the greatest Joy's of my life! I saw her for the last time a year before she passed. I missed my date with her in 2011 because she was teaching the Angel's in Heaven. I miss you, Mary. You will forever be in my thoughts!! You gave me wisdom and love for the English language!!

About 2003we moved here from Iowa. Mary spoke about her many years in the Panama Canal. We went to the movies with her & she invited us to dinner. We were very impressed with the meal she made. German franks & red sour kraut. My husband raved about it. Of course there was desert & she gave us her recipe.

I will miss seeing and speaking a "Hello" to Mary at GSLC worship where I have heard others in the past commenting on "her courage to undertake her surgery ventures 'at her age!'" I still have and admire the Thank You note, written as correctly as I had been taught so many years ago for the Get Well card I sent her once. Why we just saw her getting out of her car at the Walmart Super Center only several months ago! What a real gem! Yes, Mary, you definitely will be missed.

We knew Mary as fellow members of the NARFE for years. She had us to her apartment several times to see if we would like to move to Butterfield. She was always a pleasure to visit.She will be missed by all fellow members of NARFE.
