Mary Angeline Rowland's Obituary
Mary Angeline (Williams) Rowland of Rogers AR passed away peacefully on Monday evening October 25, 2021, surrounded by her three devoted children. She had recently celebrated her 99th birthday.
Angeline was born October 4, 1922 in Cassville MO to Horace Raymond and Mary Grace (Buzzetti) Williams. She was the youngest of three children and the only girl. She graduated from Cassville High School and continued her education at John Brown University as a music major. After two years, wartime interrupted her college education and she married the love of her life, Floyd Dale Rowland, on July 8, 1942. Shortly afterwards he was sent to the European and Pacific theaters with the U.S. Coast Guard. He pre-deceased her in 2002 after 60 years of marriage.
Angeline’s greatest joy was family. She had a keen interest in genealogy and over the years thoroughly researched both sides of the family, and was especially proud of her Italian ancestry. She was “a keeper of things” and enjoyed collecting many interesting treasures. As an accomplished musician she played in an accordion band, marched in a drum & bugle corps, taught piano, and served as church organist. She was an avid reader, a competitive bridge player, and an adventurous traveler. She had a curious nature and a genuine interest in everything and everyone. Her positive outlook and gentle spirit inspired many of her friends to say “I want to grow up to be just like Angeline!”
Angeline is survived by her three children; Beverly (and Rex) Miller of Georgetown TX, Curtis (and Jane) Rowland of Bella Vista AR, and Alice Roberts of Citrus Heights CA. She had seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Angeline was a bright light in our world and will be missed beyond words.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the First Christian Church, 905 S. 13th St., Rogers AR 72758. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church (Angeline Rowland on the memo line).
