So many memories of this wonderful man. Very blessed that he was family. Mike always had such a gentle spirit. They would come to hannibal to visit from Arizona and we would get so excited. He never acted like us girl cousins were "pests". Always would take time to talk and visit with us while still playing ball with the boys. I had the pleasure of meeting with him and most of his family a couple of days before he went in the hospital. And I thank God for that visit. Catching up, reminiscing, reliving those childhood memories. I will always remember that day. Linda, Christa, Cecil and all those grandchildren- I love u all and will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Until we see him again!
Linda and Crista, and family, sorry for your loss of Mike as he will be greatly missed. From the cousins especially the Marshall girls who remember all the times we shared with the family over the years. You are in our prayers.
I met Mike in 1980 at the Chandler Police Department. He was a Sergeant and I was a rookie just starting. My wife Lori worked in the records section. For the next 12 years I was blessed to have worked for him several times, and learned so much from him. He was always calm and cool, very slow to anger as he dealt with citizens and his troops. I admired that about him and tried to be like him. When he retired in 1992, I was promoted to replace him, with his S4 Badge number. I remember that I felt that I had to follow him in leading, big shoes to fill. The other thing I knew about Mike, was his faith and conviction in God and Jesus Christ. His family was everything to him and he was so proud of everything they did, he loved them more than anything. Life moved on to fast, and we would only hear things about how he was doing in Arkansas. He will be missed, but he can rest knowing he made a huge difference in many lives.
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Chief Nelson he always treated my family and I with kindness. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for your family.

A lot is often said of how people are great when they pass on, Well, Mike really was a fantastic and GREAT guy and he had an awesome and wonderful sense of humor. I shall miss him very much. To the family, please know that you are in my prayers. I am so sorry for this huge loss
